The brief
Two bedrooms nobody used, a corridor between them, and the only balcony of the flat hidden at the end. The owners wanted one room, open and bright.
What we did
- Took down the partition and the corridor after checking with an engineer that nothing load-bearing went with them.
- Raised the ceiling under the roof slope and insulated it.
- A new floor across the whole room and a French window onto the balcony.
- New radiators and lighting, then paint.
Seven weeks, and an engineer’s note filed on the tracking page before the first wall came down.
