The brief

The rafters had sagged and the tiles let the rain through at every storm. The owners wanted to keep the look of the farmhouse, its tiles included.

What we did

  • Took down the old tiles by hand and stacked those that could be reused.
  • Removed the old frame and built a new one in solid timber, cut in our workshop.
  • Laid a breathable membrane and new battens, then the old tiles with new ones for the gaps.
  • New zinc gutters and downpipes all around.

Six weeks under a temporary cover, scheduled outside the rainy season, with a photo of each stage added to the tracking page the same evening.
