The brief

Behind the wallpaper, the house had good bones: brick walls and oak beams. Everything else had to go, from the wiring to the plumbing.

What we did

  • Stripped the walls down to the brick and kept the beams in sight.
  • Insulated the outside walls from the inside, and the roof.
  • New wiring and plumbing throughout, to current standards.
  • New doors and frames, then plaster, paint and floors.

The work went room by room so that the kitchen and one bathroom always stayed in use. Each room had its own line on the tracking page, closed when it was finished.
